Advice

If a brand new teacher asked you right now for advice, what would you say?

If your first impulse is to say something negative and discouraging about teaching, let’s not go there.  The world still needs good teachers, so let’s not use our influence to scare off what could be someone who belongs in a classroom.  Plus, when you’re negative you tend to focus on things that are out of your control.  And what good does that do?

And since we’re all so different- what works for one teacher may not work well for another- you can’t just tell them exactly what to say or how to act.  Hmm….

So what advice would you give?  Or, if you have been asked, what advice do you give new teachers?
